About the Program
At Storefront School we offer an alternate program for students in grades 7 - 9 who are typically between the ages of 12 to 16. Students not currently enrolled or attending school can contact Doug Gray (Vice Principal (250) 979-1850 local 23 or by email). Students currently enrolled at their local school are referred to us by the local administrators. Students can also be directed to a Storefront School by the District Suspension Review Committee or by the Director of Student Support Services.
Students attending are typically at risk of dropping out of school or find the more traditional regular school unable to meet their learning styles. Students are given an academic achievement assessment (Wookcock Johnson) before an individual plan can be established and they can start attending class.
Students attend 2 hours daily and are assigned to one teacher at a set time. Successful students in our school typically move on to our Grade 10 Program or return to a regular school or enter the work force.
